While we’ve all been looking forward to the warmer weather and a chance to get out more, it isn’t without its perils. More people on the road means increased chances of getting into a car accident. You don’t need to be in a major accident for it to affect your health either. Any sudden jolts caused by an accident could affect your spinal alignment and create discomfort.
Rear-End Collision Injuries
This very common accident might feel like more of an inconvenience than anything else, but even a minor fender bender could potentially have caused you whiplash, soft tissue damage, ligament damage, or herniated discs. You may not feel these pains right away either. It could take hours, days, or even longer to feel the full effects. Even if you are only experiencing what you would consider minor discomfort, it may be something more serious that needs to be looked at.
Single-Vehicle Accident Injuries
Another common type of accident that you might see an increase in during the spring is single-vehicle car accidents. You could be in a crowded parking lot and unintentionally hit a parked car or another object large enough to make your car come to a halt. Springtime also sees a spike in rain showers that could unexpectedly make the road slick and amplify the chances of a single-vehicle accident as described before, or maybe swerving on a highway and hitting into the medium. Even at low speeds, this still causes whiplash which will need to be treated.
T-Bone Collision Injuries
Outside of a head-on collision, T-bone collisions can cause some of the most serious injuries. When you have more people on the road and people aren’t paying attention, blowing stop signs or red lights, you’ll run the risk of this type of accident. This could result in serious neck and spinal cord injury depending on how you’re hit. If it is that serious, you’ll almost certainly be taken to a hospital and be recommended a physical therapy regiment. Just because you’ve finished a certain amount of time performing physical therapy, this doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be fully comfortable and pain-free. You will want to explore continued recovery options.
